“My couch was my prison.”
I was unable to enjoy going anywhere and doing anything with my son and husband. I had PCOS, and had always been slightly overweight. But in December 2018, I woke up one morning and both of my feet were completely numb. I couldn’t feel my feet. I went for two years and through many doctors that had no clue what was wrong with me, and progressively got worse and worse, with daily headaches, severe eye pain, and sharp pain from my head to my toes on my right side. My body was wracked with nerve pain and walking was excruciating. After two years, I happened upon a curious ENT doctor who reviewed my brain scans himself and discovered I had a hole in my skull base, which allowed my dura matter and a small portion of my front lobe to seep into my ethmoid sinus cavity, and caused a CSF leak. I had brain surgery 2 years ago to patch the hole. A side affect of the brain surgery was severe intercranial hypertension. This condition causes imbalance issues, headaches, and vertigo which made exercising an impossibility. One reason mine was so severe- my weight had skyrocketed to 352 lbs.
Fabulous. And so easy! Dr. Patterson is amazing, and I love her straightforward nature.
